    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my work placement very much. Working at Teradata was very rewarding and I felt regularly challenged, my job was tailored to the skills that I had, and I developed many new skills that will be invaluable throughout my career.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues and co-workers were welcoming from day one. There were a few other interns which made everything easier, but everyone is very kind and welcoming and the office has a good vibe about it.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager understood and appreciated that I was a placement student, and was very helpful in educating me, giving me tasks to help develop skills, and teaching me about a professional environment.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days I was busier than others, but this is the same with any job. My colleagues and manager all do good jobs of helping eachother manage workload, but sometimes thinks are much busier or much quieter, but this dynamic working environment helped to keep me on my feet.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was significantly surprised by the amount of responsibility I had. A lot of the work I had was outward facing, and as a result of this I felt trusted and valued by my colleagues and managers. There were very few menial tasks, I was hired with an expectation and because of my skill set, and these skills were used and valued to complete tasks of high importance right from my first week.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills i've learned here are absolutely skills for life. Especially the people skills that are learned working in a corporate environment. The technical skills are also transferable.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office is quite a relaxed place, and people will stop and have a chat, it's not exactly 'fun', it's a corporate environment, but the atmosphere was very good and the offices are really modern, directly opposite the Shard and in the heart of central London.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was very well organised, the efficiency of my managers and the HR department before I joined really impressed me. Everything was made really simple for me.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of the training that was required was on-the-job, but more than enough time was dedicated to ensuring I was up to speed with all I needed to know, I didn't feel unprepared with many things, and if I did, the time would be taken to help me.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Teradata don't offer a grad scheme, but already understanding the company would be a big bonus if someone decided they would like to come back

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The other interns that I worked with were very social, and were always looking to go out to places.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As it's right in the heart of London, living and socialising here is not cheap. The salary covers it pretty well, and as long as you're not outlandishly stupid with money, you should be fine.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It's central London, there's always something to do

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 3/5
