About You
Fantastic experience - everyone is extremely friendly and the firm went the extra mile to make sure the vac scheme students were looked after all week.
As a week placement student I was expecting to just be given like Mickey Mouse jobs. But I was given challenging work to do that was actually going to contribute to an actual deal which was really exciting and worthwhile in terms of professional development.
All staff were extremely helpful and we were given a three-tier supervision system to ensure that we didn't feel overwhelmed.
The experience has confirmed that I definitely want to become a commercial solicitor.
The Company
Wish I got to spend more time in department, however, the extra departmental presentations and socials were really fun too.
Really a great firm with a exceptionally talented lawyers and down to earth people.
I wasn't there for very long but the week I was there, I felt the tasks I was given weren't just made up and actually contributed to something tangible, which I think had a real feel good factor to it in terms of accomplishments.
I spent a lot of time networking with trainee solicitors in different departments so this allowed me gain a better understanding of what life as a Squires trainee is like.
As I've said, everybody is really friendly and down to earth and that's very much the culture of the firm.
I was placed in the Corporate department and I found this an interesting area that I want to explore further.
Everything Else
This was a paid placement of £250
There were various socials and departments presentations which allowed me to get to know staff from other floors.
The Christmas party was really enjoyable and the departmental presentations we were given were a helpful way to learn about other practices as well as network with the people.
Squire's trainees are very involved in the social activities, as well as pro bono and getting involved in initiatives to network with and help aspiring lawyers that are still at university.
I love this experience so much, and if I don't get a training contract this time round, I will be applying again next year.
