    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The discovery day was quite enjoyable, as it gave a very good idea of the graduate scheme in question. It was also very helpful to hear from people who are in the programme and have been in the position that I am currently in, as well as people who have worked in the company for many years.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • This question does not particularly apply to the event in question but it was very targeted and I appreciated the attention given to us - however there could perhaps have been more interactive segments in which attendees were given more to do to perhaps simulate a real world scenario or somethign of the like.

    3/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The presence of both people involved in the grad scheme in question, as well as people who have worked in the company for many years, made it easy for us to get a fairly large amount of guidance in terms of both the actual scheme and what it entails and the application process.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Again, this question does not particularly apply to the event in question as it was just an insight and not intended to help develop any skills. It was useful to learn more about application tips and how I can make myself a better, more suitable candidate for both this job and other jobs.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The day was very structured and there was a clear schedule that was followed. I was only able to attend the second half of the event but fro what I understand the order of speakers helped everyone have a good understanding of the programme and what it is like to be a part of it.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was generally pleasant, and all the BP employees - both those in the programme and those who weren't - were happy to help us with any and all queries that we had. The opportunity to interact with like-minded students also made, on the whole, for a very pleasant and enjoyable day.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • As mentioned earlier, the insight involved people who had been part of the programme in question, and then gone on to become full-time BP employees, as well as people who were going to take on full-time jobs in the future. It was helpful to learn from them the differences and similarities between the graduate scheme and a full-time job.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • All employees present at the discovery day event were very clear on the company culture of openness and respect, which was a very satisfying comment to hear so resoundingly from everyone. They also elaborated on the company culture of jumping between departments every few years, which is a good way to be exposed to different parts of the business.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very valuable. I am currently an engineering undergraduate, and BP is one of the companies that I am definitely looking at applying to owing to the nature of the work that it does and the industry it is in. This event further cemented the idea that I would be a good fit for the industry and hopefully the company.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • While there were people who we could talk to about opportunities at BP and what they entail, the chance to really interact with them on a personal level was somewhat lacking. It would have been nice to have some more downtime during the event when we could interact with employees or our peers more.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
