The Role
My internship in Risk Advisory at Deloitte was an amazing 6 weeks. I didn't expect to be given so much responsibility and got to travel and work with a variety of clients. My colleagues made me feel like a part of the Deloitte team and supported me throughout my internship.
My colleagues truly made me feel like part of the team and made we feel welcome from the start. On my first day, my buddy took me out to lunch and was always there to help me throughout my internship. Everyone I met was very friendly and encouraging. I was invited to social activities with the team also.
My 'champion' organised my schedule for the 6 weeks and was very accommodating and approachable. I had a buddy who was my informal point if contact throughout my internship. He gave me lots of advice about my interview and was always on hand to help me throughout my internship. All members of staff were happy to help me and were very approachable.
Days in the office tended to be quieter than those on client site. I was never bored and could ask for something to do. I never felt overly stressed or under too much pressure. I was able to shadow a number of meetings on and off client site. I write a number of documents myself and really felt like I was contributing to client engagements.
I felt like I was making a real contribution without being given too much pressure. I had discussions with clients on my own and wrote a number of documents used in engagements. I was able to challenge myself but knowing at the same time that there was support available if I needed it.
My excel skills definitely improved. I was given a lot of advice about interviews and felt a lot more confident in my own abilities following my internship. I've learnt that time management is key and how to develop good relationships with clients. I was able to apply the theory learnt in my degree to the real world.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly and upbeat. The office was buzzing with activity . Everyone hot desks which gives you the opportunity to get to know everyone in the office There's always someone offering to make you a hot drink and I felt very comfortable. The atmosphere was perfect to work in but at the same time, I felt comfortable chatting to my colleagues.
