The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my Summer Placement at Centrica and really do think that my experience there couldn't be any better.
I felt extremely valued by all members of my team (which consisted of 8 employees situated all over the UK). I can confidently say that during my first week I became an important member of the team.
My buddy, Graduate Talent Manager, line manager and everyone else has been absolutely fantastic in supporting me and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
I chose to make myself very busy indeed. Perhaps some will say that I didn't have a good "work/life balance" but this was my own choice and I reaped a great deal of benefits from my hard work.
Linking with my answer for the above question I can say that I was given a great deal of responsibility due to my hard work and I really enjoyed the high-profile projects that I was involved in and even responsible for.
Centrica ensure that all of its summer placement students learn and develop a whole range of employability skills through the Centrica Core Skills.
The Company
It was fun but very professional (which I preferred) due to me working in Centrica's global headquarters.
Everything was extremely well organised and planned ahead.
It is scary how much money Centrica invested into 76 summer placement students. Most of the investments were on individual basis and done through on-the-job training but there were also a few events for everyone (for example, Presenting with Impact skills training day).

Working from home
I actually did get a job offer with Centrica! :-)
The Culture
The social scene was great - sometimes even too much of partying...
Centrica provided accommodation to all students free of charge, so everyone ad loads of money left over after every pay cheque.
Nightlife was great also.
Centrica and British Gas run a huge number of sports and social events for all of its employees.
