The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my placement year. Had a tough initial 6 months where a lot of pressure and workload was put on the BA roles, but this was down to the ways of working of the department. Glad I proactively moved after 6 months to try another department out, it definitely verified my career choice and sparked a flame for the role!
Again, after moving department I was valued much more. My ideas for product development were praised and put into work as well as going the extra mile for this team I wouldn't mind doing because I felt like a genuine and valued team member!
Again, after moving my Buyer and Assistant Buyer opened my eyes to how different types of people approach their roles. It's okay to not be the loudest person in the room, not having confidence isn't detrimental to your role (as I was made to think by previous manager). They supported me and explained how confidence will grow with your relationship to the products, you'll know everything about them and it won't be nerve racking talking through them in sign-off. They also were very friendly, I never dreaded coming into work after I changed departments, and I didn't worry what they were thinking about me or my work because they were easy to read & would give me helpful advice.
By the end of my time at ASOS I feel I managed my time a lot better and it was more balanced. But that definitely develops from learning and understanding your role as a BA and what needs to be done.
After moving departments I was responsible for managing the critical paths and chasing suppliers for samples so that products remained on track to come in. I would of liked to been encouraged to talk in my final sign off however, it would have been a nice end to my internship.
Definitely improved my confidence and communication skills.
The Company
Happy! Approachable! Chilled! Team spirit! Feels strange not being a part of the team this Christmas time, I miss the atmosphere!
I feel like we missed out on the training front compared to what the interns had this year!
I feel like I should have been more proactive in signing up for training.

I'd love to come back and grow my career at ASOS. If I'm invited back, I'd like to broaden my skills by trying out womenswear, so I can decide early on whether WW or MW is my preference.
The Culture
