    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I Absolutely loved my time at ASOS and would recommend everyone to apply for an internship or placement there if you are at all interested in the fashion industry. The culture there is great and anyone who is enthusiastic and willing to learn will absolutely love it. There is a perfect balance between working and social life at work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I Felt like one of the team at every point despite only being a 2 month intern. I was Given real responsibility and projects to mange myself. One of my projects actually culminated in presenting my customer insight research to an agency, whilst another put me in charge of Facebook advertising spend for international markets.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone was super helpful and people always put time aside to train/teach me new skills whenever I needed help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was a really good balance between being under pressure but also being manageable if you put in the work. There was always something extra to do if you need more work on a particular day but i never felt bored or under too much pressure. Most line managers are understanding that you will have limited knowledge coming in and the first few weeks are based mainly around training.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given tons of responsibility with each aspect of my work. In every project I had defined goals which allowed me to really see the impact that I was putting in with my work. My line mangers treated me as if i was any other person who had just started and assumed that I would be capable of doing tasks given to me which is really great as an intern.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have use some knowledge learn in my degree since my time at Asos but i think the skill I learned will help me much more when looking for further jobs and when I start a graduate job. The skills i learnt will really set me apart when it comes to applying for grad jobs and interviews in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was great. Everyone is super friendly and always willing to chat. Although everyone was busy the general feeling in the office was relaxed and allowed you to get on with your workload. Everyone enjoyed socialising together outside of work which was a great way to get to know the team, everyone at ASOS loves what they do and works hard to be the best that they can be.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The work placement was set up well, all of the interns had a group induction where we learnt the ASOS basics, a bit of history about the business and other exciting things like staff perks and benefits. I really felt as though they wanted me to get the most out of my 2 month internship as possible.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt as though my training and development was really well invested in by the company. Almost each month we received training from the learning and development team in many different areas. If there was something you were looking to learn or improve everyone has time to help, even if it's just a case of sitting beside them for half an hour whilst they demonstrate something on their computer.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would absolutely live to come back and work at Asos again. However one downside of the recruitment process is that unlike large graduate recruiters they will not open applications until after christmas which means you wouldn't know if you have secured a job until April ish.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes,there was a good social scene with other placements. I was lucky enough to have another intern in my team which was great. Most people at Asos are either in their 20's or early 30's so socialising with other people other than interns was also really easy and very inclusive.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The Asos HQ being situated in Camden meant that the surrounding area is expensive for a student, however, a subsided canteen meant that you could eat breakfast and lunch at work very cheaply. This is also a great option as it gives you the chance to socialise with other team members.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in Camden was always fun, there is a good mixture of pubs and music venues as well as a couple of late night clubs such as the Jazz Cafe and Proud. Most Fridays theres was team drinks at a local bar or pub and being situated close to central London meant that there were always possibilities to go on somewhere else.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were always things going one that you could get involved with from staff parties to charity events to sport events. my favourite was the company rounders event! It was great fun. Asos also encourages use of its' subsidised fitness studio which was also a great option if you want to do some exercise before going home or during your lunch break
