The Role
I really enjoyed my 6 months at ASOS, I never felt like an intern at all I always felt like a valued member of staff. They treat their staff so well and there was so many perks of the job. The people were all really lovely right from the start, and I looked forward to going to work, which is always a nice feeling. Every day was really different too, which made it exciting.
I felt really valued throughout my internship, I had quite a lot of responsibility throughout the internship but it wasn't too stressful - if staff needed anything I think they were always happy to ask me, which made me feel valued and needed. I always felt like part of the team, and when I was given tasks they were always relevant for something, never just a task to pass the time.
My manager was always there for me if I had any questions or queries, and she was always very supportive. I wish I had kept more up to date with my training booklet, but that was more down to me, not necessarily my manager. My manager was often out of the office but i had no problem contacting her if i needed anything and she always responded to emails quickly.
I was quite busy throughout the whole internship, the only times I didn't have a list of tasks was probably within the first couple of weeks when I was settling in. Sometimes I had a lot to do and occasionally it did get stressful, but i ensured i prioritised. Other members of staff were always happy to support me and help out if there was too much for me. I liked being busy though as I do work better and quicker under pressure.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility, for various members of staff, mainly admin tasks like stationary/PO's/expenses etc. It felt good to have responsibility though as it made me feel needed and valued within the team - at first I was worried about the responsibility, but soon I settled in well and enjoyed it.
I learned more than I could of ever imagined during my time there, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to of interned for them. I learnt so much every single day, and really feel like I understand the industry so much better than before I did the internship, and it also confirmed my career choice and inspired me to know that working for a company like ASOS is the career route i want to go down after I graduate. it also taught me many things for me creating my own final collection in my final year.
The Company
The atmosphere was happy, everyone loved their jobs and you could definitely tell within the office. The people were all lovely and friendly, and no one ever really brought the mood down. We had celebrations for birthdays etc and these were all really fun and a good way to mingle with people who I may not usually of worked with.
It was really well organised, I liked that i knew so far in advance that I had got the internship and that it wasn't too last minute. I didn't really interact with many of the other interns as I started halfway through the year only doing 6 months when the others all did 1 year, so maybe more organised intern events would of been helpful.
I got the opportunity to attend an external course for 1day which really benefitted me during both my time at ASOS and my general skills. The intern sessions about different areas within the company were helpful, and it was really interesting to learn what the different departments do. Training was more as and when I needed it, which was great as it wasn't too much to learn in one go.

I'm not really sure what the employment prospects are, I never really got spoke to about it, but I would love to work for the company in the future; even if it's later on and not straight after uni. I know that some of the employees there now were interns previously, which is hopeful, but I know they like you to have quite a bit of experience.
The Culture
We went for drinks sometimes on a friday, usually if it was someones birthday, and this was always fun. I made a few friends that I have kept in touch with and hopefully will stay in contact with in the future, however none of these were placement students as i didn't really see them very often.
It was in camden which is quite a good area for socialising in london as it's not toooo expensive but its not cheap either. I wasn't living too far away from work so some days i was able to walk which saved on travel expenses, but rent was quite high - my wage allowed me to live and socialise relatively well, but I wasn't able to save much money.
The nightlife was really good in camden, the bars were fairly cheap (for london!) and good fun, i didn't really go out with people from work but my friends that visited and already lived in london often liked coming to camden for a night out. the food options were really good too.
Not really but we had a lot of activities inside work, such as "away days" where we stayed in the office but an external activity came in and we spent the day bonding and having fun with each other. Also the last fridays of every month we had friday drinks, where there was always a fun activity or games to play, along with free drinks!
