    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Although I am still undertaking my placement I have enjoyed it quite a lot. I feel as though there are elements for improvement in the scheme as a whole as in some parts I think for inters there is some structure missing but this is something which differs dependant on the team you are in.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues value me a lot, and make me feel responsible. I am given a lot to do and I can see the work I do actually makes a tangible difference which is motivating in most cases.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I have two line managers. One is super busy but I see her around a few times a week and the other one I have day to day contact with and most weeks a one hour face to face meeting with in which we catch up on the work I am doing and any other more general things we want to go through.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This is completely different. There have been days I don't leave the office until late or I'm at an agency and so have to work later hours however there would be days that were a little more relaxed. I think there is always work to do and in the times I have had a lighter workload I have tried to get involved in external workshops including Dove Day 2016.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As expected during the start little responsibility was given to me however as the placement has progressed this has changed. Even now I am less then half of the way through my placement so I would guess that will increase by a significant amount in the coming months.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have enhanced my networking skills to an unparalleled level and have learnt so much more about Marketing as an area and in particular Digital Marketing. I am also going to complete some training courses to further enhance my awareness of the area.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It's great. Very causal and friendly! I sit next to my director and can speak to him whenever I feel the need to. There is no barrier between people and it's generally a very nice atmosphere to work in. In quieter times you can grab a coffee and unwind with colleagues discussing recent work you have undertaken perhaps.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think there is a lot of work looking at the experience I have had so far that can be done in this area and I will formally feedback this when I leave.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • This is something that I have recently seen increasing as I have been invited to undertake some training previously only available for full time employees.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The UFLP is something I would consider however I think there are many other options that I am seeing day in day out. So I am not yet sure of what I would look to do post graduation. I will explore a variety of options once the time comes and see which I feel suits me the most.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes - every day for the first few months the interns would have lunch together. This has now decreased to something like one day a week purely because everyone's workload has increased. However after work drinks/ monthly / bi monthly catch-ups are still held between the interns to see what everyone is up to. We have plenty of Xmas events coming up too :)

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive - Very expensive. You cannot expect anything less from central London. This was partially due to the fact that I did not want to be commuting a lot and so lived very close to my work. If you are willing to commute longer in the mornings you can live somewhere further out which will of course be cheaper however it depends what you want from your time in London.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Great - many great bars and clubs close by. Always had bars close by to go to for drinks after work!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 2/5
