Valuation & Advisory

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

I felt like Cushman & Wakefield made the six weeks very enjoyable as there was a lot organised for the interns. In particular I found the numerous departmental talks useful because it helped me clarify what sector within the property industry i would like to work in when i am older.

2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

I was given a huge amount of responsibility as an intern and felt like at all times the people who I worked alongside with at Cushman & Wakefield were extremely approachable. At the end of my internship the team took me out for for a thank you lunch, which very was very thoughtful.

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

I was assigned a personal mentor who was graduate. This was very helpful because the graduate was of a similar age to me, so they could easily relate to my situation. Each day I was given a lot of work and felt like it was actually helping the people in my team out.

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

There was not a single moment where i felt like i didn't have anything to do. I thought that this was down to the fact that the team constantly keeping me in the loop and giving me real task to do. For example i was not just simply photocopying and proof reading but actually helping with valuing buildings.

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

The internship has taught me a great deal and will help me ten fold with improving the professionalism with my work at university. Considering that my degree leads me directly into the commercial property world i feel like i could not have gained better experience elsewhere. I learnt how to work well in a team and communicate successfully with clients.

8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

The internship was extremely well organised. From day one, we were given a timetable for talks and events that had been organised for us. One thing that really stood out for me was the training that we were given to help us develop our networking skills. If we were ever unsure there was always someone in the HR department who could help

Cushman & Wakefield take on roughly thirty graduates year on year so I imagine job prospects will be fairly high. Social

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

Often after work drinks were organised for us interns. I noticed that people in the firm got on extremely well and often would spend a lot of time together after work. Some of the events that they organise include softball, rugby sevens and social hockey (with other competitive property firms).
