    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a good experience and I was able to learn from it. I was able to increase a lot of my skills and it helped with my understanding of accounting and made me more willing to continue in my course. It was also good to see how pwc as a company operated. I also enjoyed all the perks that pwc provided whilst I was there.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Overall I felt as if they exploited workers slightly as they seem to overwork employees within the business. They have employees working constantly with limited breaks. They treated me well when I was there but I feel that is only to intice new employees into the firm so more people are encouraged to work for them

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was given a lot of guidance throughout the insight. They made us do a presentation within the insight and we had clear instructions on what to do and when we were going to present it and how long it would have to be. We also got good guidance on the next stage of the process in terms of what we need to know to answer the questions in the interview.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt from this insight will be beneficial in the future. We had a presentation to do and I feel that this helped in my presentation skills and gave me more confidence at public speaking. We also learnt more about how a business operates and this will help me in the future and after my degree as I will know how to operate a business.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was structured very well. We had a constant timetable throughout the day which meant we were always doing something and this seemed to make it go quicker. We learnt a lot in just 2 days and I feel that pwc made the most of the time that they had with us and they had planned the whole insight very well.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was very much a posh atmosphere. It was as if you were there to impress and to build yourself up. I think there were some very arrogant people there and that decreased the atmosphere. I think that pwc think a lot of themselves. I always had to be alert and be ready to talk about business in every situation and basically nothing else.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Pwc did invest in me as they were willing to give tips to presentation skills and the insight to what they do. I feel they done well in this as they did bring in top employees within the company to give us advice about our future careers and what would be best suited to the courses being studied in university. We got to ask too employees questions and this allowed us to deepen our knowledge and understanding of the business.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Pwc provided a clear understanding about what it would be like to work for them. They brought in top employees to explain each area of the business and they explained it well. They gave us insight into three different areas of the business and helped us understand what each area in the business does and what they are responsible for. It was very clear to understand.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight showed the company culture well as it went through each area of the business and how they operate and who is responsible for each part of the business and what sort of atmosphere the business would have. It allowed me to see what would happen on a day to day basis and really the culture within the firm and surrounding the business.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very helpful in helping me decide my future. This insight has given me the opportunity of a summer placement so that has influenced my decision for the future as I will be likely to continue my career path within pwc and hopefully get a graduate job from this process. It has really helped me to decide on what path to take in the future and what area of the business I would like to work in.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was not paid or reimbursed on expenses, but all expenses within the hotel were taken care of

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes this was a good opportunity to build networks and relationships with top employees of the firm I was able to get business cards from employees who run each section of the business which I hope will benefit me in the future when I want to work for pwc. Also just meeting the employees will benefit me in the future as they will recognise me.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social events were good. They ran a quiz after dinner and it was enjoyable and relaxing. It gave us time to relax and and build more casual relationships with the employees as we were all relaxed so I really enjoyed this time. We were also able to get to know each other better which will benefit me in the future as some of the people there may turn out to be my workmates.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • yes they mentioned how we can get involved in charity events throughout the year that Pwc are involved in. It talks about different activities that staff get involved in so that they encourage social skills and to help employees build relationships with each other and have the opportunity to relax with each other. Pwc seem to have a lot happening each month and looks really enjoyable.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend this insight to a friend. This is enjoyable and it benefited me so much and has given me a lot of opportunities in terms of placement and possible future job opportunities. This has helped me gain many skills including social skills and presentation skills which I know will benefit me later in life. This is the best insight that I have done and would strongly recommend.
