The Role
-Very much enjoyed being respected and all the friendly members of the company -Enjoyed the office atmosphere; quite relaxed and low pressure -Very good for software based work, not so good for providing practical work -Range of work can be slightly low, however I felt I could always request slightly different work if I because bored
- Felt valued by nearly all members of the company - All members of the company were happy to help if I had any questions/ issues with the work
- Provided with lots of Technical Support from the Senior Technicians and Software Experts - In terms for report formats etc, colleagues were happy to review the report and provide good feedback to improve
- Always provided with tasks -Good balance of high pressure work with low pressure work depending on software releases
- Moderate amount of responsibility given, in terms of bug reports etc. - Work provided during placement was generally separate to main body of company work
- Developed skills in software; coding, CFD, Excel and Word features etc. - Developed report writing skills, formatting etc. - Developed understanding of fluid systems, pipe networks etc, - Assessment of quality of experimental papers - Criticism being no development of practical work
The Company
- Atmosphere very relaxed, low pressure - Option for quiet or louder environmental, (depending on what floor you worked) - Range of personalities allowed for conversations and good work productivity
- Intern training provided by previous interns - VERY GOOD IDEA, allowed for development based on their actual experiences - Work provided based on company requirements for software released, so occasionally a little inconsistent - Regular activities generally well organised, work provided when you completed most of current work
- Courses/ training days in soft skills provided - Company provided opportunity to attend conference in Verona - Training provided in software skills etc., opportunities open for all company members - More technical courses could maybe have been provided, however this wasn't an issue for completing work
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
- Very happy to work again with all members of the company - Employment aspects of the company were quite different to work during placement year, however some roles did appeal to me
The Culture
- Got on well with all placement students, (previous, current and future) - Generally social scene was organised by the placement students so depended on the students themselves - Most students lived in different area to myself so issues with activities outside of work due to distance traveled requiring driving
- Milton Keynes, cost of rent for myself was £390 per month, (bills included) - Can't comment on social life around Milton Keynes
- Can't comment
- Milton Keynes had a reasonable amount of social activites to do, e.g. indoor ski centre, indoor skydiving
