    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • What I enjoyed most was meeting so many different people from different parts of the company. The people I worked with were all lovely and more than happy to help or just have a chat.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like the work I did was really valued, and that I was valued as an individual (not just a number).

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was managed by a team of managers on the first half of my placement who all had their own interests in the project they tasked me with. They trusted me to work out my own systems and procedures, but were supportive in the methods I chose. On my second rotation, my manager was incredibly supportive and offered plenty of feedback on all the work I did on Credit Reports. I feel like I learned a great deal from those I worked with.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In the first placement, though the project work was somewhat repetitive, I stayed interested, and the people in the office with me kept me busy. In the second placement, the reports kept me busy when I wasn't sitting with people in other areas of the bank and finding out what they were doing.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was trusted with a lot of responsibility in the first placement in my Product Rotation. In my second rotation, due to the size of the customers, I wasn't given as much responsibility as I would have hoped. However, I had the freedom to manage my own time throughout and organise time with others in the building to expand and deepen my knowledge.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have become more concise in my writing and generally more confident in myself. I feel more prepared to enter the world of work upon graduation.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • In the first office I was in, we had a fantastic time and they were very helpful! We had a good laugh and managed to fit in a charity bake sale before I left. In the second office, the guys were great. It was a relatively relaxed atmosphere when everyone was around!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The IT organisation wasn't excellent, but after a week I was set up on everything I'd need. There was work planned for me to do, and those managing me were more than happy to make time for me.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My manager in Relationship Management put a lot of time into feedback sessions on my Credit Reports - I would now feel comfortable in submitting such a report to the Credit Team. Generally, I feel like the time was invested in getting me started and keeping me busy. In terms of personal training and development, I felt like I gained more than I expected to in the beginning.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The Graduate Scheme is very appealing.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The charity events held were great ways to meet the other interns and some of the graduates. I wish there had been more opportunities to socialise with others not based in London.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in Leicester was low.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • N/A

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Charity/Community Days were the main opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work.
