  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a huge amount of support by my manager. We had regular meetings to discuss my progress as well as two formal reports throughout the ten weeks which detailed my strengths and weaknesses. I was also able to chat to people in other teams to receive further support and advice.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy on most days, although being summer there were quieter days. However on the whole I was assisting in the making of reviews and was extremely busy. The workload varied a lot but I always felt I had work to do as we had a longer term project to complete.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility during the internship.. The work I produced was seen by clients which meant attention to detail was crucial.. I was given “real” work that really helped the team and helped me to gain a more realistic understanding of what working life is like at HSBC private bank.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • One of the most valuable things I learnt was the importance of attention to detail which I know will be extremely useful when I return to university. I also picked up more practical skills by using PowerPoint and excel which I now feel more comfortable using and have learnt a lot of new things.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As we were in London it was relatively expensive as you would expect. However our salary was more than sufficient to cover our costs and I received a further bonus as I live outside of London which helped me to pay for my rent during the ten weeks. London was also a very fun place to be.
