    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My work placement year was outstanding. I couldn't have asked for a better year and am hugely grateful to Warner Bros for improving my experience in business and making it a hugely enjoyable at the same time. Looking back on the year I can honestly say it was the best in my life. I've made some life long friends, had some incredible experiences and vastly improved my CV.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Considering Warner Bros is such a large company, you are able to grow very close to your colleagues and make some great friends in the process. Not only with other interns but permanent members of staff. Because the company is so used to having interns around it means that you are forever kept busy and everyone ensures you feel welcome.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager was excellent throughout! He helped me whenever necessary despite how busy he was. He really made the effort to make sure I was okay and helped me progress and improve. I had a great time working alongside him and now see him as a good friend. All the supervisors are used to having interns every year so as a result they are great at making you fel welcome and keeping you busy.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy. It takes time to learn the role and once you have got to grips with it, your role keeps increasing and there was never a dull second. They get their money's worth and you get to work on some great projects. Sometimes it requires you to be proactive but you won't find yourself twiddling your thumbs.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given much more responsibility than I first thought. I released my own boxset, represented my team at meetings, approved deals for retailers etc. I was surprised at this because it's such a large company but because they have so many interns and rely on them so much, they are treated like full time staff and get to work on some great projects.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am yet to see the true benefit of this, however, this year taught me more about business than my two years of university. Also beyond my degree I know that without this placement I would go into interviews and my answers would have to be based on very little work experience and projects that I'd done at university. However, I can now reference loads of real world experience which will be hugely beneficial.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was the ideal amount. It was quite a loud office with a lot of conversation but at the same time it was appropriate for the work place allowing you to get your head down and get on with it. There were some great characters around the office and I never felt bored. There is music playing and people talking but again, it is never too much and it is easy to stay focused.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The whole experience was organised very well. We received many training session, inductions and were invited to events all organised by WB.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They helped massively. Organising specialist training in excel and photoshop which would go on to be hugely beneficial to my role. There was also training done for all the interns such as presenting and project management skills. However, as the placement wore on, this reduced to almost no training but I was grateful for this due to my work load.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Travel loan

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Due to there not being a grad scheme it is difficult but is quite common for ex interns to get jobs. Personally I would prefer to work for a PR agency and through WB I managed to get a job with one. Therefore, there are opportunities both within and outside of the company.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was amazing!! I made some amazing friends as a result. The opening month is exhausting and has a slight freshers feel, despite having a 9-5 job. Throughout the year there are constantly leaving drinks and birthdays and also around christmas time there are some amazing parties that can get very boozy!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in London is obviously very expensive but the salary is enough to just about get by. You will need to keep a tight budget and try and get cheap accommodation. However, work nights can often be free as people are happy to buy you drinks, and as long as you don't over do it, you can get by. The student loan is a necessity however.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very expensive but if you find the right place it can be a lot of fun. We tended to go out more where we lived in the East, however after work drinks at pubs do tend to be £5 a pint. If you're lucky however, people may offer to buy you a drink or two.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes there were a lot of opportunities. I took part in volunteer days, worked at film premieres, pitched into customers and more. I didn't travel anywhere at any point and every day is in the office but there are things to get involved in.
