Summer Analyst Review

I enjoyed the internship immensely. I have learnt so much in such a short span of time and made some really good friends through this internship.

I was constantly asked for my opinion and any inputs I had to any piece of work that we were doing. The team always took their time to explain to me the context of our work or any technical concepts that were interesting or important. I never felt left out of the loop.

I felt very comfortable asking anyone questions that I had - whether related to the work we were doing or even the industry in general. I was always taught technical concepts and was given the bigger picture of the project that were necessary to complete tasks.

There were days that were quite busy and there were days that were more slow-paced, as is the nature of this industry. Experiencing both types of days and also seeing how quickly schedules change from one to another gave me a good understanding of what it is like to work full time in the industry.

I was given a lot of responsibilities during the internship. Being put on a project from start to finish, being in charge of daily updates, working on ad hoc materials for various ongoing projects, and research are some of the work I was given.

I learnt time management, people skills, teamwork, and attention to detail. All of these skills are very transferrable to university and daily life.

Everyone knew when to be serious and when to let their hair down. There was always jokes being shared and everyone was pretty light-hearted. At the same time, the work was done very professionally.

I was put in a team for 9 weeks after a week of general training. This gave me the opportunity to gain the trust of my team and also gave me a chance to push myself and grow. There were also presentations by other teams and this let me hear about their divisions as well.

We had a week of training where we were taught general excel shortcuts, setting up financial statements, and general accounting. We were also taught how to use certain software that are company and division specific.

There were a few social events organised for the intern class and also some that involved the intern class as well as senior bankers or graduates.

London is a rather pricey area to live in

Pretty good nightlife as is to be expected in London!
