    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed the placement, I always wanted to understand how international businesses operate and this placement allowed me to experience that firsthand.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone that I worked with was extremely nice and always willing to support If I needed it. Felt like a full time employee rather than a "intern"

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support and Guidance was given during weekly 1:1's and my line manager was supportive in my personal development. Many of the training courses were internal but would have been nice to to see more external opportunities.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy throughout the 13 months, which I feel is great as this made the year go very quick. The workload was manageable and had the autonomy to prioritize tasks during peak periods.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As the year progressed I gained higher levels of trust from the team and as a result was able to take more things on. I was fortunate that as a couple of members of the team had left, I took the chance to take more tasks, which allowed me to contribute is higher valuing adding processes which normally interns would not be involved in.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The year has been valuing adding and will help me when I come to apply for Grad jobs. The skills I have learnt are transferable but will also allow me to approach my final year of university with more focus and determination due to the higher work ethic I have adopted.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office is great especially the floor I worked on, however this does very much depend on the team and office you are working in.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The handover period and the first couple of months were organised which allowed all interns to understand our core job and the business a bit better. After this the support is very much dependent upon your team and your line manager but I was fortunate that my manager worked with me on my personal development plan.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The first couple of months is where the majority of the training and development opportunities are given. After this I feel that potentially more personal training and development could be offered however as I worked with my manager on my goals and aspirations for the year this did not impact me to much.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The intern programme is the main pipeline for graduate hiring and dependent upon performance increases your chances of getting a job back. Due to changes within the organisation we are unsure if the business is in a position to offer grad positions.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lots of clubs and socials going on and plenty of opportunities to get to know people.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Swindon is cheap but not much goes on in the town.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not great, Reading & Bristol are your best bets for this.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The majority of teams had team socials were you get to know your colleugues outside of work and do fun activities this tends to happen every couple of months or so or on peoples birthdays.
