    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was great. I totally enjoyed the 10 weeks I spent here. There were a lot of intern events that kept us busy. Those intern events would make this internship the best internship ever. The work was also technically challenging, and engaging. Every day I *wanted* to come to work, This is something that I believe that not a lot of internships offer.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My mentor and manager had given my full autonomy on the project. I had to decide what I would be doing every day when I come in. This made me feel responsible and valued very much, as my work was distributed across different teams. I had the opportunity to talk to people in NY. From the first day, I felt that people would listened to what I had to say, and then offered appraisal and constructive criticism.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My mentor was always supportive of my work. Every week I was able to get constructive criticism from him, for the work I had been doing the last week. This helped me constantly improve, and hence by the end of the internship, I had improved my technical/communication skills more than that I had would do at the start of the internship.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was mostly busy because of my own interest. The work I was doing was extremely interesting. So, I was an interesting experience to keep myself busy every day. So, other than team meetings and other intern events, I spent most of the day at my desk.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • It was a research position in Software Engineering. Hence, I had complete responsibility for the research I was doing.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I tried out new software frameworks that I was not aware of before. Since I am graduate in Software Engineering, this would be definitely useful for the future jobs, as these are very popular technologies. Hence, this internship definitely increased my job prospects for my future job searches.
