    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been a fantastic experience. Everybody was always willing to help me and made me feel part of the team from day one. The program is also well structured and the training week has been really useful to revise the basics of excel and corporate finance.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As I mentioned above, what makes Rothschild stand apart, are the people that work for this company. Everybody is approachable, from the analysts to the MDs. Even though they are all really busy they always find time to explain you why you are doing something and give you very constructive feedbacks. My team was working on some deals and they also made me participate to some conference calls and I had the chance to directly interact with the client. Also, in terms of tasks, I got exposure to different things, ranging from doing research, working with PowerPoint and with financial models.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Again I can only say very positive things about my buddy and my supervisors. I was always given support and guidance and whenever I had questions, everybody was very happy to help me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had to work a lot but I think it is quite normal in Investment Banking and, to be honest, I wanted to get as much exposure as possible to this job/sector. However, in terms of work life balance, I think that Rothschild is one of the best firms in the industry. I rarely worked during the weekends and I rarely finished after midnight.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was really happy with the tasks I was given.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think they will be very valuable. I learnt a lot both in terms of technical skills and of social skills.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Fantastic. Everybody is well integrated in the team and there is always a very collaborative approach.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The program was well organized and the training week has been really useful.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As I said I think that the company does invest in you because everybody takes a lot of time to help you and to make sure that you progress and improve.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I will soon know whether I have an offer or not. However, the company has a big graduate class every year so it does make sense to apply.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I do think so.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Everything in London is really expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The City of London does offer some nice restaurants to eat and some nice clubs. However it is very quiet during weekends.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • If you work in M&A you do not have much free time. However the company and the various teams organize activities during the weekend to make everybody feel part of a community.

    4/5
