    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very much enjoyed my internship at Willis Towers Watson. I loved the nature of work, where I was on internal teams to client projects, conducting a variety of different tasks, so that no day was the exact same. Above all it was the people that made my internship very memorable and enjoyable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues, as they really expressed an appreciation for the work I conducted and I was treated as though I was one of the permanent analysts from day one, with my buddy and line manager taking me for lunches an coffees, and on my last day I received a parting gift of champagne and a leaving card

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a great deal of support and guidance by not only my line manager but also other senior authority figures within the team. In addition to this, I was assigned a buddy who offered invaluable guidance and answered any questions I had, alongside many other analysts.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On some days I was very busy and on others it was more quiet. You manage your own time, and you need to be honest about your workload. If it is too little, speak up and you can help others in various projects, and if it is too much, again speak up, and others' will help you.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good level of responsibility and independence as an intern. There was not too much responsibility such that I was overwhelmed, but not too little to feel undervalued. I had freedom on many of the tasks I undertook, and had important objectives to complete which would be checked by other team members.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained invaluable skills through both formal training and on the job training. I advanced my technical capabilities, whilst enhancing my softer skills of time management and presenting. I was encouraged to think creatively as well as technically which enabled me to develop myself in way far beyond my further education.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a really nice airy atmosphere in the open plan offices, where I was able to work effectively whilst also being able to converse with the person sitting next to me. Depending on workload the atmosphere would shift to intense working then to days where things moved a little bit slower, but everyone still got their work done.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were a few minor issues regarding my whereabouts due to training sessions and miscommunication amongst team members, but nothing majorly disruptive, and everything is completely understandable and resolved seamlessly. I was made to feel very welcome and everyone in the office knew who I was when they met me.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects with the organisation are very appealing, because I greatly enjoyed the internship, and believe the culture of Willis Towers Watson to be aligned with mine. It is an exciting time to be there, especially post merger, and I would like to have a more permanent position with them after I graduate.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a very good social scene amongst colleagues of all levels, including analysts, consultants and directors. This was mostly after work on at a nearby pub, or sometimes there were team lunches. Here you get the opportunity to sit and converse with someone within the team you may not have yet worked with in an informal environment
