    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a very enjoyable experience. Even if you find yourself not liking the work you do or even the industry you work in, there are plenty of opportunities to shadow other parts of the business, find something you like and attend social events.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel like they understand my technical capabilities hence why my internship project is actually going to be used.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Absolutely amazing. Anytime I needed any assistance, there was somebody around who is an expert and is more than happy to answer your questions.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Good balance. You can work as much as you want to (within reason).

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My project is going to be used in important areas. I.e. if my code breaks then it is very high priority to fix because it affects the bank directly.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Developed key technical skills within the area of software development. I touched over 6 languages and had exposure to many areas of technology.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone is trying to do work. Quiet. Some employees are chatty - which is good.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There wasn't much to organise in Technology. A lot of HR events to start with but after you settle into your team; you just work on your project.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Nothing that personal. They gave me a project that motivated me to learn but ultimately I learnt everything myself.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Good. There are plenty of jobs for those who want it and are good. Don't believe the news about Brexit reducing recruitment!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was okay.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was lucky to be working in a city I study in. For anyone who comes from out of London, they will find it expensive (but I guess I was used to it).

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There is an amazing night life if you want it.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A few. But you usually make activities yourself.

    4/5
