The Role
Enjoyed the work very much though there were occasions when I was left with nothing to do.
Was quite disjoint from most of the other employees in the team but they were all very willing to listen and help when needed.
Regular chats with my supervisor who helped steer my projects in a meaningful direction.
Some days busier than others.
Had responsibility in carrying out investigations but there was little dependent on the outcomes at the present time, just laying the groundwork for potential future work.
Learnt a lot about what it's like to work in the industry.
The Company
Great atmosphere, people were very friendly and approachable.
A small project was prepared for me to be getting on with from the first day. At times work did slow down and my investigations developed organically. For this reason, they may not have been "well organised" but I took away more from this approach than if a strict schedule had been set up.
A number of different introductory sessions were organised for the interns. They really tried to help us fit in and get the most from our experience.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Healthcare/Dental
I would love to work for YouView again sometime in the future.
The Culture
Most of the interns would meet for lunch but only on a handful of occasions was anything organised outside of work hours.
Very expensive as you would expect in central London. Was able to stay in vacated university halls which I would recommend as a good option for future summer interns.
A few bars but didn't experience much of the nightlife.
Each week there was seven a side football and also there was an Olympic themed office competition.
