    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed getting to know the people and they really are as friendly as they brand themselves as. I particularly enjoyed Bradenham and getting to know the other interns There was a lot of flexibility to make the internship yours, and to get what you wanted from it

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was incorporated into the team quite quickly. In team meetings I was asked how I was getting on. I worked with every member of the team. I received lots of thank yous which is always nice.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My people manager was fantastic. She always made herself available to me, and we had regular coffee catch ups. I know I could talk to her if there was ever a problem or just a chat about life. I had a few 'buddies' as well who always checked in on me, made sure I was getting involved and I helped them out where possible.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always left the office at 5:30 and was encouraged to do so. It is easy to seek out work if there is a quiet period, as there is always something that can be done. On one occasion I stayed an extra hour, but that was for a deadline.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of flexibility when doing tasks and not always given rigid guidelines, which is great as you learn to do things for yourself. I also went down out to a client by myself during my 2nd week

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The presentation training at Bradenham was so helpful, and the feedback will prove invaluable for future presentations. I did a lot of drafting and applying legislation, so this will inevitably be useful when I finish my law degree

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was so relaxed, everyone was so approachable and I loved that everyone smiled at you even if they didn't know who you were. I spoke to people in the bathrooms, in lifts and just walking through, and people were so helpful and keen to chat

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I really like the fact they have pre joiner events so you already know some interns before you join and also graduates. The intern conference was a lot of fun and great to get everyone together on a national scale so we could establish a network. The people and culture team are just wonderful and were always in touch, we had a mid way catch up and they made it clear what was going on at each stage. I would have liked some more organised socials, but I know that is difficult to organise and interns could just do that themselves.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a solid introduction to the firm and through this met so many different people at GT, so it was fab to have some friendly faces around. I had training which wasn't related to my team, but nonetheless was very interesting and I did actually put this to use during my internship. I would have liked more training to my individual department, but understand it is difficult when in busy season and it is for 6 weeks. I loved going to Bradenham, this was a highlight, it was intense but very helpful and it is clear to see that GT likes to continually invest in their people and train them to be the best they can be.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Everyone who wanted a job was offered a job. It is clear that the internship is just to see if you fit in at the firm. They aim to convert as many internships into grad jobs as possible. It was made clear that there were enough jobs for all interns and we were not in competition with each other.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We each had different commitments and some interns lived quite far. As we were in different teams, we went to different venues for drinks. We had catch ups at work and with the lend with care project. We also had a celebration lunch and played rounders in the park on the last day. Before the intern conference there was an interns night out at Bounce nightclub

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's London - so higher than everywhere else. There were good mid week deals on though

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not really a lot round Euston, but I never stayed out too late

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We had the opportunity to go on a football tour to Glasgow if we could form a team There were a few drinks organised On the last day, the collaboration network organised a rounders tournament in Regents Park which was a lot of fun We also got to do some fundraising for our lend with care project and organised a penalty shoot out which was a lot of fun

    4/5
