The Role
I have really enjoyed my time on the internship. I have met really lovely people and have learnt a lot over the 4 weeks.
I definitely felt valued and that the work I was doing was helpful.
I was given a lot of support and guidance, but was also given enough independence to get on with the work I was given.
The extent to which I was busy was dependent on the day. Some days I had lots of meetings to attend and tasks to be getting on with, and other days were more quiet.
I was given some responsibility in the tasks I was given, but it is not always possible to give responsibility to an intern with HR tasks.
I have learnt how to present in a much better way, I have used Excel for the first time in a long time, and I learnt that HR is something I would like to do!
The Company
Always a friendly atmosphere! Never felt uncomfortable
The internship was well organized, we were given lots of tasks to complete during the month that were scheduled in. There could have been slightly more organization between HR & PD in terms of ensuring work-load was more equal on both sides.
The firm put on lots of training events for us, to help develop our skills and prepare us for applications in the future!
Company Parties/Events
The internship is not set up to have job offers at the end, but I would definitely return to Shearman at some point in the future if the opportunity ever arose.
The Culture
We had two socials, which were really fun and helped to bring the group of interns together.
Cost of living is expensive- but I study in London and so the internship did not cost me anymore than I would already pay in rent, travel etc.
Didn't see a great deal of nightlife.
There were 2 socials that we could get involved in, and a networking event.
