The Role
I really enjoyed my internship, it was in an area that I am interested in so it was a great opportunity to see how the department works within the firm. There were many opportunities to get to know the other interns while working together but I also had a number of independent projects throughout the month.
I felt valued by my manager specifically as I was given plenty of work and ensured that it was all useful and would be used in the future. We attended a number of workshops and were invited to events, I felt that the firm was investing in me and valued my contribution.
My management supported me throughout the internship with feedback on each piece of work and advice for other projects and future roles that I may have.
I generally had enough work to do throughout the day to keep me busy but never felt under a great amount of pressure to get things done immediately.
I was given a suitable amount of responsibility for the level, while I had control over my own projects they were all reviewed by my manager before being circulated to other people in the office.
I think that the skills I developed will be very useful to me when I return to university and in my next professional role. The internship has given me good professional experience and I think that my time management skills and attention to detail have improved.
The Company
The atmosphere was relatively relaxed in the office, at least in the area that I worked in. Everyone is busy with work but they are also very friendly and happy to help.
The internship was well organised, work had been planned for me before my arrival and there were events organised every week for all of the interns to attend.
I felt that the firm invested in my training and development a lot considering the short amount of time I was working, we had a number of training sessions and socials which were really useful and enjoyable.
The internship was not meant to be something which would lead to a full time position and this was made clear from the outset, however if there were to be an opportunity to work at the firm again it would be appealing to me.
The Culture
A number of socials were organised for the interns which gave us the opportunity to get to know eachother better outside of work.
The cost of living is high and socialising in the area is expensive as it is such a professional area.
