The Role
The job role provided a wide range tasks within working in different departments. Dependent on your skill set you may enjoy working on some departments more than others e.g. Food department vs clothing.
Most colleges show interest in your development and go the extra mile to aid you. However, if you are on a placement student you be overshadowed by graduates as they are looking to be fully employed.
Support systems are a lot more useful in smaller stores where you can be given more responsibility and therefore learn much more of what is required of you.
Peak times e.g. Very busy especially operationally.
The further you go throughout the placement the more is expected of you. However in larger stores managers can be very territorial over there work.
Learn lots more practical skills in real life situations.
The Company
Office environment changes with different shops. At a higher level and I bigger stores this can change to a very tight and can be intimidating.
Quite structured in terms of what areas of a shop you wpuld work in but mostly is all sorted out last minute.
There is plenty of internal courses available to go on and they are useful somewhat. I would encourage to go on these more from a networking point of view of not from skill learning environment

Unsure.. Definitive feedback is quite sparce in terms of future employment. No one person seems to be in control of the employment prospect point of view. I have worked under many managers throughout a year placement but how my performance is managed or collated is never confirmed.
The Culture
No social scene at all between either fellow placements or full time employees. Very difficult as employees are all of different ages or positions in there life. Plus being outside of London people have long drives/commutes so socialising was limited/none existent.
Cheap/standard for the North. Free parking mostly around work and subsided food.
Minimal. Working in different areas of the country as well made nightlife socialising poor. Also some areas very rural.
Very few. Some charity work is offered but no real drive especially at management level
