    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Its such a valuable experience working for such a reputable company and seeing how a business works on an international level. As well as gaining certificated training such as excel, you gain experience with working alongside many other business professionals

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone at VWG are so helpful and approachable, it doesn't matter what level in the business they are, they still want to help out when they can.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • With an open floor office plan, everyone is so close so any questions will be answered as soon as possible

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There are always deadlines for presentations and meetings which the data I was analysing was needed for. With good time management, I wasn't rushed off my feet, but there was always a push to get the work completed to the highest precision.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Had on-going projects throughout the year which I could develop in my own way, tailored to fit the needs of the team.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • No classroom or lecture can give you the skills to converse and work with a team the way that a placement does. It gives you actual responsibilities in a real life working environment where the work you do actually contributes to the business

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone is very friendly, relaxed, and always up for an chat or a joke (when the time was right!). It doesn't matter what position they are in the business, everyone is still accessible to talk to or to run ideas/corrections past.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very organised with induction and training days laid out for the undergraduates. There are around 40 undergraduates so everyone throughout the business knows their importance in maintaining the smooth running of the business

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We have access to a number of different training courses including various excel courses, training for interviews and others relevant to VW.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Car

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare/Dental

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are opportunities for undergraduates to bypass the application process for the graduate programme, and go straight onto an assessment day. VWG tries to promote the graduate scheme to current undergraduates.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As there are around 40 of us, plus the undergraduates at VW financial services, there are so many opportunities for socialising, such as going out at the weekends or having picnics in the evening, or a lot of the boys play football together.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As I lived with one other individual we were paying £437 PCM for rent, but you can definitely get cheaper if you live with more than 2 in the property. Socialising isn't overly expensive, similar to other pubs and clubs in the southeast.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As Milton Keynes is a working town, the nightlife is great on the weekends but not great during the week. There are plenty of other things to do during the week such as shopping, skiing, mini golf, great places for walks and so many restaurants

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are many gyms and sports clubs, so pretty much any sport can be catered for. There are so many parks and lakes, so these places are great for socialising or exercise. There is also a really great BMX track

    4/5
