Vacation Scheme Review

I thought it was an excellent vacation scheme that provided a good insight into what it would be like to work there. It was well organised to ensure we got the most out of the scheme and enjoyed it.

I was set work that was then distributed to others in the department, which made me feel like my contribution was being valued. People always made an effort to keep you included and asked for your opinions.

I got varying levels of support, depending upon what department I was in. For example I didn't see much of my supervisor in the second week, however there was still always someone that I could go to for support.

The skills I gained will definitely help me going into the law profession. As I am from a non-law background I learned a lot during my time here, in terms of both the law itself and the skills required for the job.

The scheme was well structures as we rotated departments each week, therefore this was easy to follow. We had lots of talks throughout the two weeks, which I felt made some of the days disjointed. It may have been better to condense these and have fewer sessions.

Everyone working at the firm was extremely friendly and helpful throughout. There was a clear open door policy which meant you could always go to someone for help. The trainee's were really fun to be around and put lots of effort in with us, which was nice.

I think the firm put a lot of effort into the vacation scheme students getting as much as possible from the program. I think in terms of being in each department how much personal training depended on your supervisor and whether they had time.

I think the scheme really helped understand how the firm operated and what it would be like to work there. This came from both the work I was doing and what I saw others doing during my time there.

A lot of effort was put into us understanding the culture, which was mainly gained from social and networking events. Also times such as attending big meetings showed how the staff interact with each other and the friendly culture they have there.

My time spent there definitely confirmed by desire to follow this career path and my hope of working at that firm. To experience working there first hand helped this a lot.
