    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement year at Warner Brothers has been incredible. The year has been so much more than I could have expected through the opportunities and responsibilities awarded, the atmosphere of the office and the focus put on intern development. I have been largely in charge of the direction my internship has taken and the responsibilities I have wanted to take on, enabling me to make the most of the year.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Warner Brothers doesn't treat its placement students like interns and I have felt extremely valued as a member of my team throughout my year. I have been offered opportunities and projects and been given so many responsibilities over the year. This attitude to intern development is exceptional and this would not be possible if interns were not highly valued by individual teams.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager has been extremely supportive over the year, helping me to get to grips with the work when I first started and following through to support me when I was ready to take on more work as the year progressed. Over the year as I have been ready to take on new challenges and he has always been supportive of me establishing the amount of work I want to take on. This is an extremely rewarding feeling to know your team trust you with the workload and also to make your own decisions about the direction you want the year to take.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I have been extremely busy throughout the year for multiple reasons. At the start of the year, it was simply about getting used to the workload and adding on additional tasks as my skills developed. Whenever I felt the workload start to ease as I became more confident in the role, I was always able to ask for more/ projects to run alongside my work so I never felt idle in the office. However, certain parts of the year saw my workload spike tremendously however, I would expect this of any job and so it was still manageable.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My team have allowed me to take on as much responsibility as I have asked for throughout the year, encouraging me to test myself and take on new challenges at regular intervals. Interns contribute to the wider business on a daily basis and so from day one, their is a tremendous amount of responsibility to pick up the work quickly.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • From this year my computer literacy skills (especially excel) have improved greatly which has enabled me to learn several new formulas and become exceedingly fast at presenting information in a user friendly way. This year has also allowed me to develop my inter - personal skills through interacting with different departments, colleagues I don't know personally and senior levels of management. This was not an aspect I had considered before the start of my placement but has proved to be exceedingly important and a crucial skill to develop.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office atmosphere is amazing, The balance between work and enjoying the day is perfect. Also, as an intern just starting in a busy office, everyone is always warm and friendly willing to answer any questions/ help throughout the day which makes the first few daunting weeks much easier.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation and effort put into the placement year is amazing, there is constant support and training for all interns as well as meet ups so all the interns can get to know one another.m This also makes the transition into work life so much easier as without this support from the organisation and the other interns, the start of the year would be so much harder. WB also spend a lot of time asking how they can improve the internship which also means the overall experience is exceptional as they consistently change and improve it.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • WB is extremely invested in offering training courses over the year. I have attended several sessions spanning multiple skills bases (presenting, project planning, personality tests etc) which have all been extremely useful and directly impacted my daily work life. WB also ask for feedback to make sure their investments in the interns is rewarding and useful which ensures the training is always valued.

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely come back to work for WB. The company re - employs a lot of old interns which is a great aspect of the year - knowing you might be able to come back. The overall atmosphere and industry make it exciting and fun, as well as the fact that WB is a multi - national company meaning the opportunity to travel is also there.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • WB organises lots of meet ups and drinks after work so all the interns can get to know one another which makes the year amazing fun. This creates a intern atmosphere whereby everyone looks out for and socialises with one another. There is also multiple work events, combined with getting to know interns from other teams means the connections you are able to make span the entire business.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in London is extremely expensive and so I have had to budget for the entire year. I would say that the only aspect of the year which has been hard has been the cost of living in London on an intern's salary. However, at the same time it is manageable, I have still been able to go out with work and friends.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • WB is in the centre of London and most of the other interns lived in Shoreditch and so we were able to go out all over London, visiting amazing bars and clubs all year. However, all the venues are very expensive and so this can take a toll on how much you are able to go out throughout the year.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • WB offers many discounts for sporting facilities/ runs its own football club and so there are multiple sporting activities made available. I personally took part in a softball tournament between WB and one of our clients which was amazing fun. They are currently planning to make this a company tournament. WB is also always open to suggestions so if you wished to start a company activity, they would do everything to make this possible.
