    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It's been an amazing year which completely exceeded my expectations. Working for a movie and TV studio of this size and reputation is a great experience as you can not only learn a lot about the entertainment industry and your area of specialisation but also observe how a multinational corporation works. I particularly enjoyed the international aspect of this position.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like a valued member of the team being given full responsibility and being involved in the majority of projects taking place in our office.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisors have been absolutely fantastic and made sure that I get the most out of my placement. They tried to get me involved in a variety of projects so that I could experience different business situations. We had a great relationship and communication. I was given a lot of independence but at the same time could always ask them for help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It was very quiet at the beginning of my placement as summer is the quietest period for our business but that gave me some extra time to get used to my new position and learn more about the business. After I gained more knowledge and experience towards the end of the placement, I was able to get involved into more projects which kept me busy and that was a perfect balance.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Interns at Warner Bros are an important part of the company and are being given a great amount of responsibility. Since day one I was in direct touch with our clients and the head office, participating in all of the meetings. As my placement progressed, I was given my own projects I could work on.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Working for a leading movie and TV studio is a unique experience. Studying business, I was able to verify my knowledge in marketing, management, media and even HR that I gained whilst at uni. The formal training during the placement was interesting but the most I've learnt was while performing my job.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was really friendly and helpful.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was extremely well organised. The first week of the placement is a shadowing week. That means that you're simultaneously working with a previous intern which is a great way to learn your new responsibilities. The company organised a couple of social meetings before and at the beginning of the placement so it was really easy to meet new interns. Most of the training took place in the first half of the placement so that you can draw on that knowledge during the rest of your internship.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Throughout the year interns do about 5 training courses. On top of that you can attend one IT course of your choice. There's also a series of Lunch'n'Learn events during which you can attend the presentations of the current employees talking about their departments. There are also company days during which you're given an overview of the big projects that WB is involved in. My department also organised a 3-day offsite.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Travel loan

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is no official grad scheme but all the interns are being added to an intern pool once they have left so they'll be first to find out about new vacancies and the placement experience is definitely a great advantage. Many current employees did a placement year at Warner Bros.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • To a great extent it depended on the department as some of them seemed to be more sociable than the others. At the beginning there were plenty of socials taking place, including 2 meet ups for the interns before the placement. It relatively easy to make friends as everyone is really friendly.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is really expensive which is a well-known fact. Also it is quite a challenge to find a nice flat in a convenient location and within an acceptable price range. At the same time the city is amazing and there's always stuff to do and events to attend. Living here for a year is an expensive but great experience.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The office is located in the heart of London so there are plenty of pubs around the office and it's also really close to Soho. The nightlife in London is amazing and there's something for everyone. Some places are really expensive but with a bit of effort you can find something affordable.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • You can participate in 2 volunteering days throughout the year and there are also some other initiatives such as Centrepoint Sleep Out, Friends & Family Runs.
