    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Really enjoyed the entire experience. Not only my team, but everyone in the company was very nice and welcoming right from the start. Made friends with all of the other interns and gained a greater depth of knowledge into the industry.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Felt like I was treated very well, on a first name basis and that people here had a genuine care. Was taken for drinks and treated as an equal by both the grads and the directors. Work that was given to me may not have necessarily been as insightful and valuable as I would have thought but still learnt more than I thought from asking questions and observing.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Was given full support throughout the entire 4 weeks on every level, even anything not related to work. All questions asked were answered with an in depth explanation and care which was extremely useful and appreciated. Work that was done by the others was also shown to me to explain how and why things were done and the outcome achieved.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills developed from networking will definitely carry on beyond my degree. Organisational skills and time keeping will also go beyond; being on time to work, meetings and meeting deadlines for work given to me. Used Microsoft excel very frequently which has increased my competency which will carry on into my university coursework as well as future career if and when I go into a team that requires the use of it.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Insight structure was very well run. Lots of departmental overviews to give us a general sense of how each team in the business operates and what type of clients they deal with plus their day to day work life. Also had 2 tours around London, one more cultural, another on city offices which were both very insightful. Drinks/socials were also organised which allowed everyone to get to know each other better (grads and interns).

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Always a good atmosphere, all of the interns got on really well and everyone also seemed to get on with their team and enjoy being at Savills. All of the other staff in the office always seem to be enjoying work as well, going out on Thursdays or Fridays. Good work and life business in Savills.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • lots of time was given to me from the grads and surveyors in terms of explaining to me how the business works as well as the departmental reviews where other grads or surveyors took time out of their day to give us a presentation. The city walk was also done by Andrew Eve who's time is very valuable. Overall, Savills definitely invested in the interns.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • from being here for 4 weeks, can definitely get a general understanding of what everyone here does day to day. From time to start work till the end of the day, as the office is open plan, can see how everyone acts in the office and what they are up to which is very eye opening and positive as it has cemented my thoughts in working in Real Estate and Savills.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • in the same way that being here for 4 weeks helped me understand what it is like to have a full time role in the company, it has also allowed me to understand company culture which is very laid back and entrepreneurial while everyone still is very ambitious and works hard.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • As I was in the same team for 4 weeks, it is hard to understand how every single team in the company works (as useful the departmental reviews were). I definitely have a better understanding of the investment team but still am not entirely sure what sort of team I would like to go into for my future career. I also already knew that I wanted to go into real estate before starting the internship therefore, did not need help in deciding a path as much.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, many events to meet different people not only within Savills but other companies as well. Within Savills, had networking events to know all of the other interns, then drinks to meet all of the grads. Also a lunch to meet the fee earners in Savills on an informal level which is also very important. In the last week, there was also an organised drinks event at Nabarro's office to meet the intern lawyers there, another part of the massive London business.

  • 5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
