    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I have done a number of vacation schemes, and can confirm that the three week summer scheme at Baker & McKenzie provides an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in two departments, as well as plenty of opportunities to get to know trainees, associates and partners in a more informal setting. Social highlights involved bowling, a curry night and pizza making!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I got the feeling that we were not just mentored by our supervisors and trainee buddies, but that the majority of the lawyers went out of their way to find interesting tasks for us.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • People always took time to explain the tasks thoroughly. The scheme also provided workshops on presentations skills, which was very helpful.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I got a great insight into life at a global law firm. Talking to the employees of the firm, you realise that what defines the place is the culture, and the scheme is an excellent opportunity to get a feel for whether this is the place for you! The scheme has bettered my project management skills, as sometimes one will have multiple tasks on the go at once. I learnt a lot about the importance of transparency in the work place and the necessity of communicating your capacity to your colleagues, so that tasks are managed more efficiently.
