    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at SAP. It definitely didn't feel like spending 13 months on this internship. Being involved in so many projects from the very beginning to the end of the placement made the time fly very quickly.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • By the middle of the placement, I was given full responsibility and felt just like a full-time employee. As the Business Development Associate, my role was key within the team and my colleagues have definitely valued all my inputs and initiatives.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The team I worked was extremely helpful and supportive. Although I had a delegated buddy to help me with the onboarding, throughout my placement the whole team got involved in my development and training and I learnt from everyone.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The best thing about being an intern is that you can actually choose how much work you want to take on. If you ever feel like you don't have enough responsibility by simply asking the team you can get involved in any activities or areas you want to get more experience on. The are some quite days as there are extremely busy days (end of the quarter).

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given full responsibility for week one. I remember being involved in the small project after 3 days of the start of my placement. As I gained more experience the responsibility grew. After 3 months I was already in contact with customers and closing small deals. In summary, my manager gave me enough responsibility as to challenge me every day.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As an intern in the Education Department, I had access to all the training ever produced by SAP, plus much other online training on soft skills such as: how to overcome objectives, influencing and negotiation techniques

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere varied depending on the time of the year. As we were approaching the end of the financial year or a quarter I could everyone a bit more tensed than usual. But overall the atmosphere was relaxed. 99% of the time everyone is up for a laugh and a chat.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was well organised from the beginning. My role has changed over time as I took on more responsibilities and projects.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I’m very pleased with all the training I was given during this placement. The training and development of the interns are SAP’s main focus and a lot of investment was put into this area.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Although I enjoyed my time at SAP, I realised that a sales role is not the perfect fit for me in the future. This has nothing to do with the company or the department.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Having 40+ intern in the company makes SAP a very fun company to work in. We organised parties and nights out with both interns and education department at least bimonthly.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is very expensive. Also, the Feltham office is quite remote from the city centre. It took me about an hour to get to the office.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As the office was remote, not very lively. However, you can rent accommodation nearer to the city centre.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are many extracurricular activities such as volunteering and sports that you can join. If you don’t find anything that you enjoy doing you can always start up a new society or group.
