Vacation Scheme Student Review

It was an amazing experience overall; to have the extra week in comparison to other vacation schemes really meant that you were able to get involved in quality work and feel like one of the team.

I felt valued throughout the entire vacation scheme. Everyone at the firm took the time to get to know me as a person and to get me involved in as much work as possible which meant I was really able to learn a great deal during my time at the firm.

The Grad Rec team during the vac scheme were always checking up on us to ensure we were enjoying ourselves and trainees were always willing to sit down and run through the work you were undertaking.

I would say that the skills I have developed throughout the scheme would be more beneficial as a trainee. Whilst I have just completed the GDL, I used only a small amount of what I learnt on the course during the vac scheme. This is however due to the nature of the work the firm does.

The fantastic structure of the scheme and clear guidance from grad rec meant that we were exposed to a number of useful talks about the different departments at the firm, as well as insights into CSR and pro bono, alongside some really great social events. The 3 weeks flew by which for me demonstrates just how well structured the scheme was.

I couldn't have wished for a better atmosphere at the firm. Everyone from the bottom up at the firm wanted to get to know you, help you out when required or offer an insight into working at the firm. There is really a fantastic and unique culture at B&M, something that one can really experience during a vac scheme.
