The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my placement year - it was definitely the right decision to do this placement and I will really miss it!
Extremely valued - you are never really treated like an intern, you are thrown in with your team and treated like everybody else, given full responsibilities within the job role.
I had regular one to one's to make sure I was ok, and to manage my progression. The amount of support you have from managers/supervisors is in your own hands, and if you ask for the guidance they are more than happy to provide it.
Very busy on a daily basis. Some periods more than others (e.g. lead up to black Friday), but I constantly had something to be getting on with.
I was given a high level of responsibility which I was extremely happy about.
The skills I have developed are invaluable to my degree and career. I have learnt things on this placement that I never would have done at University - the real life experience makes the theory in studying far more understandable and relate-able. After university I hope to come back to ASOS and continue my career.
The Company
The office is extremely fast paced whilst also being social. There is often a buzz around the office and it is a good atmosphere to work in.
The internship seemed very well organised. We had a induction day on our first day, before being introduced to our teams with a one week handover from the previous intern. There has been a new 2 week training programme introduced since my induction which also looks really helpful.
The company gave me lots of personal development simply through my job role and working in a team every day. They also offer training courses for time management, public speaking, managing people etc. which are available for all employees.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I would absolutely love to come back and work at ASOS - been offered a position.
The Culture
Not such a good social scene in terms of with the other interns as we all quickly went to work with our teams - but an extremely good social scene on your team.
London is obviously expensive, but plenty of places to get a reasonable bottle of wine.
Camden has a good few pubs/bars for us to go to and have after work drinks.
There are opportunities outside of work - I didn't get involved in any myself, however had I been here longer I think I would have done.
