    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Working for Warner Bros. has been the most influential year of my life so far, I am extremely sad to be leaving. Being able to work in a fast pace work environment with an ever changing catalog meant that know two days were ever the same. This internship will give you a taste of the Warner Bros. company as a whole, as you work across the two main divisions of the company; Theatrical and WBIE. I genuinely feel that I am taking with me a range of invaluable skills that I would not have learned in any other company. These are skills I will carry with me for the rest of my career.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From day one of my internship my colleagues always made it clear that I was a valued member of the team. With the Irish team being a lot smaller than its UK counterpart I was able to get to know my colleagues on a personal level as well as a business level. Resulting in the team having a great relationship inside and outside of the office. The Irish and UK teams really treat the interns as a key part of the organisation. My ideas, input and opinions were always asked for and appreciated. This internship gave me a lot of responsibility and as the year progressed responsibilities were increased to ensure I was challenging myself and learning new skills. Being given more responsibilities ensured me that I was doing my job to a high standard.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support and guidance was given to me throughout my internship. Weekly meetings with my line managers allowed me to discuss any challenges/ difficulties. Both my line managers were happy for me to contact or discuss work with them at anytime throughout the day, provided they were free. I really couldn’t have asked for better management during my time with Warner Bros. Their guidance has been so valuable to me.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • With this internship being positioned in a fast pace work environment you will never be bored or idle. This is one of the key aspects of this internship that made my year so enjoyable. Being busy meant that I always felt like a key team member, because I was needed. At the beginning of every day it was important to organise myself in terms of what tasks needed completed and what meetings I had on that day.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • From the very beginning of my internship I was given key responsibilities in marketing, promotions and sales. Liaising directly with regional Cinema chains and working with WBIE clients added additional responsibility, as I was dealing with external contacts. As the year went on my responsibilities were increased. This ensured I was always challenged and most importantly always learning.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Throughout my internship I have developed and built upon a wide range of skills including; being proactive, being able to make decisions effectively, working well in a team, organisational skills, event management, prioritizing work, setting deadlines, researching and communications skills. These are skills that will be extremely applicable in my final year of University, as it will be important to manage my time effectively, set deadlines and prioritize work. My training throughout the year was very much on the ground, this was a great way to learn as I was learning whilst completing the task at hand.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office is always upbeat and positive. All colleagues interact well together and have a great working relationship. This truly makes the working environment in Warner Bros. extremely pleasant.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Warner Bros. work placements are very well organised, with every intern having a specific role to play within the company.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My training with Warner Bros. has very much been on the job training. I personally have found this the best way to learn, as I was learning whilst completing the task at hand. I also received two excellent training days with my UK colleagues in the London office. I found this very beneficial as it allowed me to see how things operate in the UK, provided me with skills to complete my job to the highest possible standard and also gave me the opportunity to meet my UK colleagues who I work with on a daily basis.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is an excellent social scene among the Dublin based colleagues, with regular staff outings. I found that this really helped to establish a good relationship with my colleagues and was a factor in making my year so enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in Dublin is a lot more expensive that other parts of Ireland. However, this is to be expected with it being the capital city and wages reflect the increased living cost.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in Dublin City is amazing! This was my first year living in Dublin and I would safely say I will live here again at some point in the future. I am Irish and have lived in other cities in Ireland. However, I have to say Dublin is by far my favourite. There are always events happening in different pubs/ clubs, it is extremely difficult to be bored in this city.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are endless amounts of activities happening in Dublin. All you need to do is find the one that suits you! Activities such as tag rugby are very popular among young working professionals in Dublin.
