    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been an incredible placement from start to finish. The atmosphere in the office is always great and L'Oreal seem to do a fantastic job of employing like-minded individuals.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team treat me as though I am a full time employee and respect the responsibility that I have. With a strong intern culture, it is understood by most that interns are an important piece of the L'Oreal puzzle.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My management team are fantastic. I am given the independence to challenge myself and learn on the job, whilst have great support from two people who work closely to me.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Networking is a very important aspect of the culture here at L'Oreal, and so my day consists of lots of communication and face time with other employees. Generally, I would start in the office at 9am and finish at 6.30pm. Working for a large company who are trying to innovate in digital will require you to stay later than initially thought. You definitely earn your pay!!!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Incredible amounts. I mean, lots and lots. If there is something about L'Oreal that I love the most, it's the fact that you are not put into an existing admin role to do the same task that someone has done before. You are constantly adapting processes, innovating with new projects and steering the business in a new, different way. It is incredible exciting but can be stressful at times.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a marketing economics student, I have learnt more about business operations in marketing during this placement than I did during my time spent at University.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Vibrant, exciting, stressful, and sometimes like a social hub of friends!!!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well. Constant touch points with HR and great support. Personnel are always accessible for meetings and general catch ups to discuss your placement.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • L'Oreal have a learning hub accessible to all which is great. Although, sometimes the learning is too much when your day to day tasks are so intense!

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. They give you great opportunities to apply for the graduate scheme (MT Scheme) and this is something that is focused on throughout your time at L'Oreal.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good. The social rep on the intern committee was great. We had plenty of events throughout the year, most of which were appealing through free alcohol in good locations!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living is expensive in London. If you apply, get your student loan!!!! But, it's London, and it's the same everywhere. If you forget your student loan, there is a Poundland 5 minutes down the street!

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In the Hammersmith area, the nightlife is not great. There are some amazing bars around the area, but plenty of transport links some of which running 24h gives you great access to clubs within London.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Loads - football, running club, volleyball, social scene was great!
