The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at P&G, it has gave me a huge insight into the business world and a stepping stone towards my future career. P&G have been such a rewarding company to work for and have provided me with continued support throughout to aid my skill development.
From the outset, every single one of my colleagues made me feel extremely welcome. They understood that I was knew to the company and continuously offered their assistance and support to help me settle and gain a foundation of knowledge in my first few weeks. As P&G is such a global company I communicated with colleagues all over the world on a daily basis, they again were all very welcoming and I have developed some excellent working relationships during my time here.
I was given continuous support throughout my year, from both my management and the rest of the company. As a placement student, I was part of the internal Rise Up programme within P&G. They provided a great amount of support and continuously aided my skill development by devising trainings and on boarding to ensure the placement students got their best out of their time at P&G. My manager also was a huge support throughout, he ensured that I was working to the best of my ability stretching my workload to provide challenges at times which enabled me to grow as an individual and increase my skills.
P&G is such a constantly changing environment which requires you to act with agility and face the challenges it gives you. I had to learn to prioritise my daily workload and keep my core desk under control; if I received escalations I could then deal and resolve these in a timely manner. It was good that I always had something to do so I was never bored.
From the outset I was given a huge amount of responsibility. I was appointed a Front Office Owner where I had to own and govern several sites on a day to day basis, this again allowed for optimal skill growth.
The qualities and skills I developed during ,my placement year allowed me to grow greatly as an individual. They will assist me a lot during my final year studies as well as a stepping stone for my future career.
The Company
Everyone was extremely welcoming and included me in any events/meetings that were going ahead.
As I was part of the internal Rise Up programme, this provided continuous support and opportunities throughout.
The company provided me with several opportunities to increase my skill development, ranging from basic book keeping courses to presentation trainings.

The Culture
Yes, everyone was extremely friendly and all got along. We sat with each other most lunchtimes and also participated in social events outside of work.
The cost of living in Newcastle is very good, transport is relatively cheap ranging from buses to the metro. There is a wide variety of socialising opportunities which cater for all budgets.
The nightlife in Newcastle is great, there are a wide variety of events to do throughout the week as well as the weekend.
Yes, again there is a wide variety of social events to get involved with in and around the city centre.
