    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enterprise Rent A Car is a really demanding internship, but I certainly have learnt a lot of things. It was really hard to get used to it on the first place because how dynamic the job is, but once you get your head around it you can see how much support and how much you can enjoy it!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As already mentioned it is tough start to get used to things, but once you get into it you can see that you are being rewarded for your hard job as well as you are being recognized by the management. There is always lots of competitions and lots of great prizes such as money perks as well as Ipads or trips to Paris. Everyone is treating you with the respect and you are never discriminated as just an intern, but you are part of the team on daily basis.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There is lots of support from HR as well as your line management if you are struggling. Everyone from any department is willing to help you and teach you if you are unsure. There is also 1 to 1 with your manager on monthly basis so you can see how you getting on and you know what you doing really good and what you need to improve on.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workplace in daily rental is really dynamic, the normal typical day is a morning meeting, then opening of the branch and during the day you are required to serve customers, provide them with cars; do pick-ups and ride backs. Along with those, you are also required to to manage your daily task and it is up to you have successful you going to be as it all depends how much effort you going to put in. Sometimes you are required to work late, but because of the fun atmosphere at the branch you cannot really feel like working!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • During my 12 months placement I have been given lots of responsibilities - those include captaincy of daily tasks at the branch such as damage and maintenance of the vehicles, sales, customer service etc. Along with those I was also operating the fleet every Thursday which really helped me with developing leadership skills. While I was a captain on any of the areas I was always recognised for my hard job and that was always reflected on the monthly statement for my branch.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I was doing different things on daily basis I have developed lots of transferable skills. As a business management student I know that I need to know all of the aspects of a business and I have been exposed to all of those at Enterprise Rent A Car. I am confident to say that team work, leadership, negotiation, customer service , empathy, accountability, numeracy as well as delegation were developed to the highest standards. Along with those I have also developed lots of connections and I am also confident to say that doing my dissertation is going to be much easier to write and my final year will be easier with all those skills I have developed!

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • In my office we also have fun with each other and we treat each other as a family. We also ran little competition within our branch with prizes of sweets or gift vouchers. Sometimes the atmosphere was stressful but we all knew we can count on each other and after 20 mins we all had fun again.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship is really structured with training classes within the head office every 3 months as well as a training folder which has to be finished by the end of the placement to be able to MQI (an end management trainee interview in order to see if you qualify to become an assistant manager). There is lots of help from colleagues as well as line managers in order to finish the folder. As already mentioned, you are not treated as an intern, but as a graduate and you are still exposed to the same things.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a training class every three months in the head office and if you are living away from the head office Enterprise would pay for your hotel stay as well as would provide you a car to drive to the training classes. The company is really focused on development and you want to learn something new and they can see the potential they will definitely help you get there.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • As mentioned above, you are required to the folder work which has 3 stages in there. Those folders have to be done within 12 months and after that you have got a management interview to see if you are a good material for an assistant manager. Majority of interns are offered a job after the placement as Enterprise wants to provide you a job for life. That means, that many current branch managers started as interns and now they have their own branch!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was based in Nottingham where the costs of living are reasonable I could afford good standard of living with the Enterprise salary as well as social life is amazing as in Nottingham there are lots of students and majority of my friends were based in Nottingham anyway so we could keep in touch.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
