    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Was a first hand insight into the world of commercial property. Enjoyed the team I worked in and people I met.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Buddy system works very well. Leads to greater confidence as you are able to ask any question without embarrassing yourself in front of a partner. Sat straight in the middle of team not a desk in the corner and was treated as a junior member.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone in the department was well briefed about the internship and would give help whenever necessary. Buddy system was good and having a supervisor allowed you to be fairly assessed.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Often very quiet but this was not down to the placement rather the nature of the business in August and having someone unexperienced in the team.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Was given more and more responsibility as my ability was assessed.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Gave me a great understanding of the business. Allowed me to understand what was required. By speaking to various clients and graduates I was able to assess how I should progress when I left the internship.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Often very quiet. Desks were spaced out which meant there seemed to be a lack of buzz sometime. However, this also allowed people to work more efficiently as they weren't bothered by noise from departments nearby.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very impressed. Support was there whenever it was needed and the program was explained well from start to finish.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They take you through your APC to become a surveyor from start to finish.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The internship is basically one giant interview for a job. Places are available in the company if you impress. This was the reason why this internship stood above others in the industry. If you worked hard you were either offered a place on the graduate scheme or not. Gave purpose to your work there.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A lot of team activities and meetings after work. Bonding with people in the company was very much encouraged.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is an expensive city. This is obvious.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The centre of London offers some of the best nightlife in the world.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Various sporting activities available from softball to rugby. Company teams exist and it is encouraged to participate.

    3/5
