The Role
At Magpie there is a lot of opportunities to develop new and further skills throughout being a student brand manager as part of their insight team. Being a student brand manager you are given a very varied weekly schedule each week which opens opportunities to work and be creative whilst, having the convenience of using social media too post lifestyle insight. Every task you are given at Magpie is creative, engaging, and every day is different. Great place to work during studying.
I felt valued by my colleagues on a regularly basis throughout my time at Magpie. Which is something some workplaces need to put in place however, at Magpie this is shown through appraisals in team meetings, and having a professional connection with the team through the use of whatsapp and email. Working on internal projects at their office the staff are friendly too.
Every six weeks we have 121's which is with our insight manager where we talked about goals, whats going well and whats not going well. Support and guidance was extended by weekly and daily communication on whatsapp and email featuring weekly schedule and extended information when working on projects. When at the office support was shown in person and I was shown what my work schedule was for the day. The staff were helpful.
On a daily basis as part of my role as student brand manager I had too project manage my work which had been assigned through the weekly schedule. This was either posts 2-3 pieces of lifestyle insight on google+, working materials for assigned projects individually or with the team at the office during 2-3 days. In terms of collecting insight Magpie hold vision days. You are also kept busy and being creative! Magpie is very flexible with your work load which is suitable if you are studying.
I was given the responsibility too project manage my own work based on the assigned work from the weekly schedule emailed out as well as, communicating with my manager through whatsapp, phone, face to face, or email to plan my work and keep my manager informed of how I am doing with the workload and seek other opportunities to work with Magpie.
On my first day at Magpie we had a vision day which was like mini introductory too Magpie and what they do amongst, learning some photographic and IT skills which could help when capturing footage to put towards our work. Throughout working for Magpie there is opportunities to ask and queer about developing skills as you carry out the different work projects.
The Company
In the office the atmosphere was pretty good. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The set up was organised throughout working with Mapgie.
The company invested in time and opportunities too make sure that your personal training and development was a priority throughout the weekly schedule tasks whilst, having to address any concerns or questions for development during 121's very six weeks and anytime by contacting my manager or asking the relevant person in the office.
Flexi Time
Working from home
I would say there is future employment prospects based on your individual performance.
The Culture
The social scene amongst colleagues was very relaxed however professional.
I commuted from home too the office or locations of where I needed to be at whilst carrying out projects with my colleagues. I would say that you can make it cheaper or expensive when working for Magpie. I also can add that Magpie will give travel expenses when travelling for work purposes.
Having been based in Leeds. It doesn't get much better!
Having being located in Leeds and near the Leeds university campus they are lots of activities to get involved in outside of work.
