    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the spring insight program. I had multiple opportunities to learn more about the GFA and hone my skills. The sessions were extremely helpful and engaging. The speakers that we listened to gave us detailed information about their jobs. Especially the work shadowing opportunities were amazing. I highly recommend the Rothschild spring insight program to anyone.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued at the firm. The HR team was consistently around to help us out and the bankers that we met were always free to give us advice. I felt as if I was a part of the firm.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The guidance that we received was fantastic. Members of the firm were always around to address our questions whether it be concerning company valuations or technical support. The support that we received made the group project very manageable. Anyone was around to help us out when we were in need.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Many of the information sessions taught us about the nature of the GFA at Rothschild. I left the spring week knowing a lot about the firm. However, a larger emphasis could have been placed on the technical skills required in banking including valuation techniques and M&A tactics. Although these were covered, I felt there could have been more detail.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The program was very well structured. Everything flowed: there was a great balance between work and networking.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was great. Everyone, including my peers, was so friendly. The work was also engaging and exciting. Although the group project was demanding in terms of research, it was all worth it at the end. Ultimately, the envrionment had a great mixture of fun and focus.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company did seem to invest a significant amount of time in us. The personal training that we received gave us a very general overview of the GFA at Rothschild. The group project was also a fantastic opportunity to develop my skills as a banker. However, as mentioned above, more focus could have been spent on the technical skills of banking.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I got a very good understanding of the work environment at Rothschild. This was because of the work shadowing and networking sessions. The opportunity to watch and talk with analysts about their experiences painted a very clear picture of the firm and the nature of the work. Ultimately, you will understand the qualities, skills and commitments that are required at the firm.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight made me realise how open, encouraging and friendly the work place culture at Rothschild is like. This was because of the HR team and the employees that we met during the insight. Even the senior members of the firm were happy to give us any advice. The building tour also allowed us to understand the environment that Rothschild offers.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I began the insight week with a strong desire to pursue banking in the future. The spring insight did not change this. I remain interested and highly motivated to join the GFA after completing my studies. This was because of the people that we met and talked to throughout the week. The speakers taught me a lot about the GFA. Especially the Q&A sessions helped me better understand Rothschild and any general queries I had about the industry.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were opportunities to network. However, there could have been more. The most helpful networking opportunities were the work shadowing sessions. These sessions gave us a perfect opportunity to meet the employees and understand their work. Therefore, I believe more work shadowing sessions could further enhance the networking opportunities at the spring insight.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Most of the bankers that we met were free to talk. The few networking sessions that we had were very helpful. I met many bankers and they were always happy to answer my questions. They painted a very realistic picture of the GFA at Rothschild which was very informative. The networking events that we had were mostly restricted to a professional environment. Therefore, there were not that many social event opportunities.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • This really depends on the types of questions that you ask. If you ask the employees what activities they do outside of work, I am sure they will answer your question. This is because the employees are happy to address any concerns or queries you might have about the industry. The volunteering activity that we completed also made me realise that many of the employees get involved in charity work.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I highly recommend this insight program to anyone. You will learn a lot about the industry and the firm. The people that you meet will always be there to invest time in your future (they will give you advice and support). The HR team is also extremely friendly and are willing to give up their time to ensure your stay at Rothschild is enjoyable. The activities that you will complete are also varied and engaging (you will have the opportunity to complete volunteering work and practice your skills as a banker).
