    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This was one of the best insight/work experience weeks that I have attended. The programme was structured and planned out from day one, which each activity being both incredibly enjoyable and informative throughout the week. The project we completed gave a fabulous introduction into the world of financial advisory, and pushed us as teams greatly to achieve our best.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • HR were always there to help us no matter what the issue was, and all the analysts were great in telling about the firm, the culture, and the work that they do. Employees from all levels of seniority were happy to give talks to us on a range of subjects, which all helped to develop ourselves as people both in the financial world and beyond.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Each day had something new to offer, and no day was the same. The volunteering aspect of the programme was a great team building exercise, giving the added satisfaction of knowing that you were helping the wider community achieve a task. There was no waiting around or a lack of organisation to the week - everything was fluid and flowed together very well.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • HR were always on hand to answer any questions from us and to guide us in the right direction with contacting people and progressing through to the next round. Analysts were happy to give their time to discuss their role and show us members of their team during the work shadowing, where many of their colleagues introduced themselves to us and told us more about their specific job roles and responsibilities.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had an amazing session on presentation skills which was given by a trained professional, who taught us many different tips about presenting in front of others which were incredibly useful when delivering our project at the end of the week. The activity on reading the FT gave another real world example on how to understand the financial markets in more depth, which can be taken into many aspects of finance into the future.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The project on financial advisory was very in depth and challenging, and giving a real representation of what the work as an analyst may be like if we were to join the firm as a grad. The ability, too, to ask other analysts during the work shadowing gave you more insight into what they did on a day to day basis.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The week really pushed me towards investment banking in the future. The nature of the firm and the colleagues really draws me to working there in the future, and the enjoyable project gives you a clear idea of whether that type of work is suited to you for the future.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was quickly reimbursed for my hotel and travel expenses.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We had afternoon tea with the directors, an analyst lunch on the first day and some more personal networking when we embarked on our work shadowing with the various teams. We always had the opportunity to ask the speakers questions not just on their presentations but also on wider aspects of the firm,

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • On the second day we participated in a volunteering activity for a local charity in London, where we decorated a room and made toys for children to play with during a themed event which was to take place that week. Coupled with the presentation on Rothschild in the wider community, the week gave a clear overview of how employees could get in activities outside the firm and the importance it gave in helping others.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would very much recommend this insight to a friend. The week gives a clear overview of the financial markets, the place of Rothschild in the system, and the type of work they undertake on a regular basis. If you are uncertain on whether this type of role is for you, or if you really want to find more in depth about the job yout think you may want to do, Rothschild is a greta place to start!
