    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Informative but little responsibility given during the week. I have done other spring weeks where I actually felt as if I was an employee of the organisation.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Felt valued but it was as if we were 'guests' more than anything.

    3/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • those which ran it was always happy to help

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Degree isn't construction related

    3/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Had a schedule which we kept to

    4/5

  • Good, people from various backgrounds who all got on

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Practice assessment centre, CV skills, mock interview

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Only half a day shadowing and a lot of that involved walking around instead of actually watching the employee execute their role.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The culture at Mace is good.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Confirmed construction for me, could have easily swung someone else the other way though.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Only reimbursed expenses travelling to site and back. If I had not had a place in London to stay for free this week would have been highly costly.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Good, had various presentations on roles and were able to ask questions after. Was an opportunity to have lunch with current employees but that was interrupted by an unforeseen fire alarm.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Looks like all employees have a good social life

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, if you have a passion for construction and am willing to take the financial hit. I attended other spring weeks at larger organisations where I felt a lot more immersed in the business (given own laptop, work, email etc). As well as this I was reimbursed fully, paid and progressed to a partner interview for a summer internship the following year. It all depends on whether you are completely set on the industry or not. If you are on the fence I would say there are better opportunities out there but in turn this comes with increased competition.
