The Role
I loved my time with orbitsound from the start. it was an opportunity to use the skills i had learnt in other jobs and I fit in with the company philosophy from the start. It was always a challenge which was big aspect of the job I relished as with a lot of companies its easy to feel undervalued or underutilized.
Orbitsound has always been a family run business and maintains that attitude and mentality to this day. You feel valued by your colleagues because you are, you're an important part of the business and will quickly become part of the family. Anyone in the business is only ever a phone call away if you ever need anything which is a really nice touch and something that is only possible with a smaller, more intimate organization such as orbitsound.
From day one I had a lot of support and training. My first day was spent shadowing my manager and from then on almost daily contact. the good thing about the business is that you are given the freedom of autonomy, to make your own decisions and run your part of the business in the way you see fit which is great but then also have the constant help and support from people who have been there and done it themselves.
I was always busy from when i woke up to when i signed off for the day. Something that is very important if you are in the business to learn, grow and develop. I was constantly presented with opportunities to do things that were slightly outside my comfort zone which in turn is the opportunity you need as an individual to expand your skill set and become a more rounded sales person.
I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my time but it was never too much to handle. Responsibility is something that is earned and as long as you are willing to put in the effort you will always be given more to take care of. By the end of my time with the company I not only had several people working for me but a significant amount of stores for which is was responsible for too. To be trusted with that at such a young age is experience that can not be bought and is something I would recommend to anyone
I am sure that the skills I have learnt during my time here will be infinitely useful in both my studies and in further employment. Not only have I learnt the sales skills but the people skills and the management skills. These are all highly transferable and something that employers value highly. Also the ability to confidently and accurately communicate a message is something that you are always tested on at university particularly and if you spend time with orbitsound you will become an expert at this without a doubt.
The Company
To be honest not all the time is spent in the office but I guess your store is your office. Because of the nature of the job networking in incredibly important to your success so as a result you quickly build a relationship with everyone in the building and very shortly it develops from being simply an office where you work to being a big building full of your friends that you get to see every day.
It was well organized from the start and as mentioned previously there is always more to do so its up to you to make the most of it. the tools you need to be successful and the support you need is always there and whilst the placement program is relatively new to orbitsound that does not mean that it is not very careful planned to make sure you get the most out of it as an individual.
The company from the start invested a lot into me. From giving my the physical tools to be successful and the most valuable thing it gave me which was the time and dedication of the experienced professionals at orbitsound which were on hand whenever I needed any sort of help or support.

Everyone in the company has got to where they are by working their way their from the bottom so to start in a position as strong as I did has put me in great stead for the future and the prospects are great. When I finish my studies a career with the company is something that I will definitely be pursuing. As mentioned before being given the responsibility that I was is something that is rare and I would be stupid not to continue with it.
The Culture
The social scene is good but because of the nature of the placement a lot of the time you are quite spread out. However what this does mean is that when you do meet up it makes it a lot more special and you value the time you have a lot more. Also the other colleagues are always only a phone call away so even if you are not close geographically it feels as if you are when you can always pick up the phone.
pretty reasonable and I was working mainly in the city center so everything I needed was always within an easy distance to reach. The cost of socializing is always circumstantial and depends purely on the individual. If you have expensive tastes and like to go big on a night out it is going to cost you more. In general though everything is pretty reasonable and the money you earn will keep you comfortable.
It was really good and every need is catered for. Thats the beauty of living in a big city. I had a big circle of friends and when spending time off work there was always something new and exciting to do. Again though, the nightlife is what you make of it so its up to you to find the things that you enjoy in any city that you are situated.
there is always some sort of activity to get involved in outside of work and you get a lot of opportunities to create your own if theres something in particular that you really want to make happen. I had the opportunity to do things from ranging from mini golf to go carting and whatever you want to do its up to you to do whatever it takes to make it happen
