The Role
Although quite a lot of technichal accounting knowledge was needed, i was able to do some of the basic audid/tax jobs and enjoyed learning new skills whilst doing this.
Because there is quite a big intake every year there were a lot of people that i worked with who had been in the same position the year before and could appreciate what it was like to be in the position.
The management team were really supportive and in contact throughout the placement to check on my progress.
Summer is a quiet time for audit, although there was always something to do.
Towards the end of my placement i was given reasearch topics to do, which were really interesting. I also visited clients on my own, which although quite daunting, was a really valuable experience.
At the beggining of the internship all the interns in the country go to a hotel and complete 3 days of training activities on team building, presentation skills etc. This was really valuable experience and i can see me using it throughout my career.
The Company
Everyone was really freindly and seemed to get on very well
Great communication both before, during and after the placement
Due to the short timescale of the internship, there is not a lot of time to train. However, as a graduate the training seems to be really well organised and there is a lot of support available. In your first year you would spend 16 weeks at college completing the first year exams for you Chratered Accountancy qualification.

There is a really good career path within Deloitte, so once you've finished your ACA exams you can work towards becoming a manager and eventually a partner.
The Culture
Not only withing the placement students, but within the whole office. Throughout my two months i think there was something going on every week. Because of their large intake every year everyone is fairly young and there is a really good social side to working at Deloitte. (Free drinks nights once a month, paid for by the company, is definately one to look out for!)
Nottingham is a really cheap area to live in and the office is right near the centre of town so really easy to get to by public transport.
Great nightlife in Nottingham.
As i have said before, there's always something going on in Deloitte, whether it be free drinks nights, team days, or inter-office sports.
