    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • The placement was fun and varied and I worked as part of an excellent team of people, although the hours are very long (8am-6pm Monday-Friday)

    • I was integrated into the team straight away and treated like any other employee

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • Most of the learning happens on the job. This was not necessarily learned directly from management but from any employeein the branch. There was always someone willing to help if I had a problem.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • Even if we didn't have many customers coming in, there was always something to be done such as car deliveries or administrative work.

    • I had the same level of responisibility as any other employee.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I have developed skills in sales and customer service which are invaluable, as well as softer skills such as communication and team working with plenty of examples to give to potential future employers.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • We had weekly (and sometimes daily) cakes, and plenty of office banter.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • The setup was very good, although I would have liked to have a specific project to work on over the ten weeks.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • The placement began with two days training at head office, then training on the job in branch. Personal development came with the job.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    • I have been offered the opportunity to work part time in the Enterprise branch local to my university when the summer is over, which is great! I can also return to the internship next summer if I would like to, and get a place on the graduate scheme.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Great social atmosphere, a couple of nights out over the ten weeks and plenty of funin the office too.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • I lived at home during the placement, so my only costs were transport. Nights out were paid for!

    • The area summer party was a brilliant night out!

    • Only the two social events.
