    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the Spring Week very much. Everyone we interacted with were very friendly and welcoming, especially the HR team. The cohort of spring interns were surely very competent, but what was actually surprising was that they were also interesting, well-rounded people, which made the week especially enjoyable. (This seemed like a deliberate choice by HR to select people they would actually like to work with..)

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The analysts I shadowed were very very helpful and brought us around the desks, which was a nice gesture. When we had afternoon tea with the directors, there were about 10 directors to the 23 of us and they were genuinely interested in having a conversation with us.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • In preparation for our presentation on the final day, we were allowed to figure things out independently. We were given a short talk on pitch books and received good information booklets, but more guidance (e.g. workshops) would have been appreciated.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I wouldn't say it would be relevant to my degree studies, but the knowledge gained and the skills practiced (e.g. presentation & interview workshops) were very useful generally.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The schedule was clear and well-designed.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • As mentioned, everyone was very friendly, which made for a positive atmosphere. I've heard that spring weeks at some other banks can be relatively tense and competitive-- this was not the case at Rothschild.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were given a good number of presentations on the firm and investment banking, and had a full morning with an external communications coach.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Work shadowing with the analysts was very informative.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The office tour and networking opportunities helped-- in particular, we had a tour of the company's historical archives by the Archivist and Assistant Archivist.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable. I'm personally keen on advisory, but those also considering S&T will obviously not receive much exposure on that front.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Accommodation, travel and lunches were reimbursed or provided for.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Networking opportunities include lunch with analysts and tea with directors.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Besides the above, we had drinks arranged for us at a bar on the first evening.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We had a presentation on volunteering at Rothschild, and actually did one morning of volunteering. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the activity a lot and found it very meaningful. The company gym is nice too. Having said that, it shouldn't be a surprise that not many would have much time after work.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, definitely.
