  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been a great opportunity working for one of the best banks in the world.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming in my team. In regards to my fellow interns, there is a lot of competition and some people become quite aggressive at some point.

  • There is a great of support and guidance given to interns.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Depending on the week, I am more busy or not. But there is always many things you can do.

  • Since day one I was given some surt of responsability, although as an intern we somehow have limited responsability.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I fisnished uni, this work experience will definitely help me in the future jobs or other courses that I take on. Very steep learning curve.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is great because there is a balance between seriousness and fun. It is crucial to work in an environment that you feel confortable in, and getting on with the team and being able to maintain a good relationship with your new colleagues is important to be able to give 100% of yourself.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think that the work placement was done accordingly with the skills of the interns, or at least they have tried to place the people in the desks that they could be of a great help. we also had three day mandatory rotation so that we could have a taste of what other teams do within the division we were at. This ws a good way of realizing whether you actually enjoyed your team, whether you found the asset class interesting, or whether you missed the people you were working with.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • On the first week we had a training week where we had an overview of the different teams and asset classes that exist in the bank. During the internship we have also had different talks and events where we had the opportunity to network and meet proffessionals from the industry, as well as learning what other teams do and how they all related to each other.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It really depends on the headcount and how many people can be employed. Employment is very challenging these days as well as very volatile markets which sometimes affects on the employment decisions.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, there are lot of people with different backgrounds and different countries, so it is a very interesting enviroment. We've had the opportunity to get to know eachother in social events and the bank does organize enough events so that we see people who work in other divisions.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living and socialising is very expensive in London, more than any other city in the UK.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife in London and around the City of London is great. Afterwork drinks are very popular on Fridays, there are always people from the office who would be willing to have a drink.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We have had a Charity day where we got involved helping poor communities in the city. There are different sport's teams and runs that you can get involved in.
