    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enjoyed it as it was very varied and day to day tasks constantly changed

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was asked for my inputs in staff meetings and my manager made sure that I was visable in the team and that I wasn't treated like a intern

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • the open door policy was used within the company which made all managers approachable for when help was needed

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • workload was very low in the beginning until they geared how much work I could handle

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a large amount of responsibility as I was dealing with a large team quarterly budget, and arranging accommodation and flights for offsites

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • given a broad insight into the workings of sales behind the scenes, there were plenty of opportunities for training which was Intel and non Intel related such as presentation skills, and constructive confruntation.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • this would have been a higher grading however during my time at Intel sales were going through redundancys, however the office was very lively apart from this.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • as there is a large community of students on site every aspect of the placement was well organsied from the intern committee to the role and intuction of a intern

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had the opportunity to complete some chartered institute of marketing courses while on placement and could attend any other external training courses presented by Intel University. Intel made sure that we were constantly developing skills through alot of reminders of new courses being set up

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Intel takes on a large community of RCG's (Recent College Graduates) but within sales it is rare to see someone come straight back without being through the supply side of Intel. However this doesn't rule out job prospects for a sales intern as they can be invited back by other departments. It is a appealing future employer as there is a wide scope for working aboard and in alot of different departments with it being a global company

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • there was a intern committee who arranged nights out, activity days, theme park day trips.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • living in Swindon is dependant on the area. Old town Swindon is more expensive to rent in compared to the less central Swindon our rent for a two bed flat in the west of Swindon was £575 pcm excluding bills, so not as cheap as were I am currently living, but a relocation allowance is given to students who go to uni a number of miles away from the Swindon site

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was ok for a town but the neighbouring city of Bristol is worth going to if looking for nightlife. During the week days nights out will mainly consist of people who you know from Intel etc but of a weekend it becomes slightly more lively. Swindon has one club, a few bars, and lots of pubs

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Intel had a sports and social commity who arranged football, dragon boat racing clubs etc. All of the sports club compete in the yearly corporate games. They also arrange trips to London, concert tickets etc. But Swindon also has cinemas, bowling, volunteering opportunities and more like any other town

    3/5
